CYD is incredibly proud of the over 750 students from our three partner schools who prevailed through the pandemic shutdown and graduated on June 25, 2021. We are rooting for them as they begin their college careers, pursue job training, or enter the workforce.
The digital divide separating people with and without internet got a bit narrower last month, when Comprehensive Youth Development (CYD) began distributing hotspots and data plans to students who could not afford enough connectivity to fully engage in remote learning.
I came to CYD after I got my master’s degree in school counseling at Columbia. I did an intern year at a high school focusing on the college process. I loved it. From there, I found the position at CYD where I’ve been for three years. I’m a college counselor at the High School for Health Professions and Human Services (HPHS).
Over 45 languages from all over the world are spoken across our four sites, which serve student populations as ethnically and linguistically diverse as New York City itself. In the halls of our schools, you’ll hear English, Spanish, French, Arabic, Bengali Wolof, Cantonese, Haitian Creole, Sinhalese, Twi and Farsi – just to name a few.
CDI is ushering in the fall with a wide range of post-secondary options for students! Our annual College and Career Fairs host up to 400 students, parents, and alumni.
