ACADEMICS + TRAINING TRACKS
Three certification tracks.
All Allied Health.
Every track leads to an industry-recognized credential and includes a paid internship at an NYC healthcare facility. All classes are in-person, taught by working healthcare professionals at Borough of Manhattan Community College (BMCC) in Lower Manhattan.
PROGRAM MODEL
How the CYD Career Academy works:
Every student moves through three phases. The structure is consistent across all three Allied Health training tracks at BMCC.

PHASE 1:
Bridge program
Healthcare workplace readiness, medical terminology, financial literacy, and customer service training. Taught at BMCC with PCDC delivering Introduction to Healthcare and Patient Care Coordination.

PHASE 2:
Occupational training
Intensive 3–6 month certification training delivered by BMCC in your chosen Allied Health track — Central Sterile Processing, Medical Billing & Coding, or Phlebotomy & EKG. Includes Basic Life Support certification.

PHASE 3:
Internship & placement
Paid internship — up to 150 hours at $18/hour — at an NYC clinic, private practice, or urgent care facility. BMCC matches you to a site based on your track and skill level. Employment support continues through placement and for one year after you exit.
TRAINING TRACKS
Choose your path into healthcare.
All three tracks start with the CYD Career Academy Bridge program. From there you move into your chosen certification track, completing in-person training and a hands-on internship at an NYC healthcare facility.

STUDENT STORIES
In their own words.
The CYD Career Academy graduates working in NYC hospitals, clinics, and healthcare networks across the five boroughs.
“CYD’s Bridge training was so important to me. It helped with communications and gave us practice in how to write professional emails, follow telephone etiquette, dress professionally, prepare for interviews, present yourself. Without CYD, I feel like I wouldn’t be where I am today.”
Michelle Maldonado, RN
CYD Career Academy graduate + Current tutor
“The Bridge portion of the Career Academy, when we learned skills for working in healthcare, confirmed that this was the right field for me. I loved Deborah’s class in customer service and discovered that I had a talent for it. The occupational classes were great and my tutor helped me manage my schoolwork.”
Jeandry
CYD Career Academy graduate
“I like hands-on work, so I chose the Central Sterile Processing track. I have been learning all about surgical tools and I think it’s very interesting. The CYD staff checked in with us a lot during occupational training, and helped us if we felt stressed.”
Stacy
CYD Career Academy student
“The CYD Career Academy was a great opportunity to get my foot in the door. CYD helped me get an internship in a chiropractic office, which was a great opportunity and helped prepare me for my future goal, which is becoming a physical therapist. My teachers, administration, and classmates made the Career Academy a great experience for me.”
