Meet Our Students: Isabella

Isabella, a student from HPHS

Name: Isabella

School: The High School for Health Professions and Human Services

Graduation: June 2023

Post-graduation plan: I got a full scholarship to Columbia University! I’m planning to study biology, and I’m going to do work study.

How CYD helped: They helped us all the time, around the clock. It’s a lot of students, but they helped each one. They came into our classes to tell us about financial aid and how to submit all the forms. They held recruiting visits. They led the Summer College Prep program, which I learned so much from. They were literally a blessing. Ms. Forté was incredibly helpful and always by my side. She would call Columbia with me. There’s such a huge amount of stuff to submit and she helped me through it. My parents had no way to help me because they don’t know about planning for college, but she was always there supporting me.

Dream: I’m going into medicine. Doctors are always going to be in huge demand everywhere. My boyfriend wants to travel the world as a missionary. I would love to go and be able to help people who maybe have never seen a doctor before. I’d also like to help people in this country who don’t have healthcare.

Fun fact: I’ve lived on Roosevelt Island all my life. It’s really nice there. One year at the cherry blossom festival there were 80,000 people on the island and they had to close down transportation!

Your dollars make a difference!

Without the support of each and every one of our individual donors, the stories you read about and the programs that make an impact in the lives of our young people would not be possible. Thank you!
