Meet Our Students: Jeandry

Career Academy student Jeandry

Name: Jeandry

School: CYD Career Academy

Graduation: December 2023

Post-graduation plan: When I finish the Career Academy, I can start my career as a Medical Assistant. I’ve always wanted to help people. Even in high school, I used to go around with my little first aid kit! I’m interested in working at a nursing home, maybe in physical therapy, because I love being around older people. My grandma has 12 siblings, so I have a lot of experience!

How CYD helped: The Bridge portion of the Career Academy, when we learned skills for working in healthcare, confirmed that this was the right field for me. I loved Deborah’s class in customer service and discovered that I’m great at it. Patients in hospitals are putting their life out there, so you have to take care of them well and tell them the truth. Michelle, my tutor, helped me and the whole group, and we really connected with her because she’s a graduate of the Career Academy, too, so she’s one of us.

Dream: I want to be a travel nurse. Then I can go to other states and countries and get to know different areas of the medical field and different cultures. I love languages and I love to learn.

Fun fact: I love reading. I started reading in English about a year ago and I’m nonstop now. I love fiction the most and I’m currently waiting for 4 books to become available at the library!

Your dollars make a difference!

Without the support of each and every one of our individual donors, the stories you read about and the programs that make an impact in the lives of our young people would not be possible. Thank you!
