The Table Tennis Club is one of many clubs CYD sponsors at MCNDHS so that our hardworking students can explore interests and activities after school. MCNDHS teacher Jayson Ito is the coach and Kenny Lee, a retired MCNDHS aide, volunteers his time to train the students. At the season’s final practice, the team captain explained his connection to the game: “When I started playing ping pong, it made me feel that emotion – when somebody beat me, I wanted to beat them back. So I decided to do everything I could to get better. I also play in the park to meet people I can practice speaking English with. So it helped me with my English skills, too!” The exciting volleys during practice were no fluke – the team went on to win its championship game against Lower East Side Prep!
