CYD Board members and corporate hosts organized four volunteer events in May that gave students an inside look at careers and a chance to work on their job portfolios with professionals from many different fields.
BNY Mellon. CYD Board Member Clara Brooks organized a Men’s Leadership event at BNY Mellon. CD&R Foundation President Randy Moore delivered a keynote speech at the event. Following a career panel of male BNY Mellon employees from many departments, students met with the volunteers to practice interview skills and discuss their résumés.
VaynerX: CYD Board Member Nathan Bond organized and Board Chair SoVonna Day-Goins helped chaperone an event for Manhattan Comprehensive students at VaynerX. Students got a special tour of their offices and a conversation with the team about what working in media looks like today.
PVH: Board Member Jeffrey Hellman organized a virtual panel with PVH staff members on legal careers.
Deloitte: Students from Manhattan Comprehensive and the CYD Career Academy visited Deloitte on Impact Day at their NYC headquarters. Volunteers spoke with students about careers at Deloitte and offered advice on how to present themselves as job candidates – and worked with students one-on-one on practice interviews and résumé review.
Students had a wonderful time at these events and left with information that will be invaluable as they apply for employment.
