2025 Spelling Bee event photo collage

CYD hosted its 7th Annual Spelling Bee for Grownups on May 21! Thank you to all who joined us at this wonderful celebration that raised critical funds to help young people succeed. The “hive” at Bohemian National Hall was abuzz with CYD Board members, students, staff, principals, teachers, and supporters. Spelling by both students and adults was especially strong this year! City-As-School won first place in the student competition, and the Goldman Sachs team Spell-ebrities took home the 1st place trophies in the adult bee.

Our amazing Bee Master, Cheryl Wills of Spectrum News NY1, brought great new energy to the event. Check out her post-event feature on CYD on NY1’s New York Tonight! Executive Director Michael Roberts hosted an inspiring onstage talk with students from our three partner schools, who discussed their plans for the future and how CYD helped them.

There is still time to give to support the Bee, which provides essential funds to sustain CYD’s programs.

Your dollars make a difference!

Without the support of each and every one of our individual donors, the stories you read about and the programs that make an impact in the lives of our young people would not be possible. Thank you!
