HPHS student Johnny

As students go back to school this fall, many are preparing for the college application process. Johhny, a graduating senior at Manhattan Comprehensive Night and Day High School, is looking forward to the upcoming school year and what lies ahead.

Name: Johnny, MCNDHS

CYD’s Impact: CYD has been a part of Johnny’s high school journey since he started at MCNDHS. “CYD has helped me in many ways,” shared Johnny. “Tutoring has helped me in my classes, and I have gotten better at English”. As a participant of the Learning to Work program, Johnny also had the opportunity to intern with Afrikana, where he worked in the food pantry. “I liked helping people who needed food and I want to do it again,” reflected Johnny.

Goals for the School Year: In his last year at MCNDHS, Johnny is already thinking about his next chapter. “My college counselor has helped me find programs I am interested in, I am excited to apply!” Johnny’s current classes are also shaping his future goals. “Math is my favorite subject in school, I hope to one day be a math teacher so I can show others it can be fun.”
