Rachel Potts, Director of the AtomicMind Foundation, at the 2024 CYD Spelling Bee with AtomicMind scholarship recipients Elizabeth, currently studying at NYU, and Sheyla, now a Fordham University student.
CYD’s partnerships allow us to provide opportunities that go beyond our own capacity, as demonstrated by our relationship with AtomicMind and the AtomicMind Foundation, which has become a trusted and critical provider of college advisement services at the High School for Health Professions & Human Services.
AtomicMind empowers students to reach their highest potential, offering expert, personalized guidance through the college application journey and beyond. At CYD’s Spelling Bee in 2023, program alumni reflected on the challenges inherent in navigating the college process, inspiring Leelila Strogov, AtomicMind’s CEO, and Rachel Potts, VP of Student Services and Director of the AtomicMind Foundation and spurring them to action.
AtomicMind helps students pursue admission to the nation’s most selective institutions, and their approach is rooted in building confidence, character, and long-term success. Their model focuses on helping students develop healthy habits, resourcefulness, and a strong sense of personal power that helps empower them to thrive on their own paths to success. Through the AtomicMind Foundation, they extend this support to students in need, ensuring that talent and ambition—not financial barriers—define a young person’s future.

Ana, Yale University Class of 2029
2024-25 AtomicMind scholarship
Since 2023, AtomicMind has provided one-on-one college application support to 11 students at the High School for Health Professions and Human Services. Destiny, Class of 2025, earned a full scholarship to Fordham University to pursue her dream of becoming a journalist. Another 2025 graduate, Ana, was awarded a full scholarship to Yale University, where she plans to study neuroscience. These are just two of the many life-changing outcomes made possible through AtomicMind’s support. Potts says, “We work with our Foundation Scholars to help them showcase not only their academic achievements but also their creativity, drive, and determination. Equally as important, we emphasize their overall personal growth—helping them develop into confident students on the precipice of an exciting new chapter. We aim to ensure that top colleges recognize the full scope of who they are, and by working with us, it greatly increases the likelihood of making that happen.”
Your dollars make a difference!
Without the support of each and every one of our individual donors, the stories you read about and the programs that make an impact in the lives of our young people would not be possible. Thank you!
