The Spelling Bee Is Back!

CYD’s Board, staff, students, teachers, and friends gathered at the Bohemian National Hall on May 25 for our 4th Annual Spelling Bee for Grownups! It was amazing to see the smiles and hugs and excitement in the room.

Bee Master Andrea Joyce of NBC Sports Group expertly led all those brave enough to take the stage and try their hand at spelling words from Machiavellian to redingote.

Board Chair SoVonna Day-Goins welcomed the crowd, and Executive Director Michael Roberts kicked off the evening by recognizing the event sponsors in a special song.

The evening was a huge success, and the suspense of the final adult championship face-off between Abby Spitzer representing the Goldman Sachs Spellebrities and Michael Melcher representing the Lily Chu-Daniel Sturman Buzz Words was, well, spellbinding! The Spellebrities took home the first-place trophy with S-T-I-C-H-O-M-Y-T-H-I-A!
