Finishing High School at 21

About 25 percent of New York City high school students struggle to graduate in four years. Radio Rookie reporter Shamari was one of them. After years of moving and switching schools he dropped out of the 11th grade. All that instability had left him under-credited and without a strong sense of connection to any one school. Finally he landed in Manhattan Comprehensive Night & Day High School, one of New York City’s 51 transfer schools. In this Radio Rookie report, hear firsthand how Shamari found the support he needed in a school designed to help someone like him succeed.
