Post-graduation plan: “I started thinking about the military after my grandmother and I walked by a recruiting stand and she said it would be funny if I joined! I looked into it and it turned out that it’s the right path for me. I’m going into the army right after graduation. I’ll do boot camp and then combat training. In training I’m going to get sprayed with mace and then have to do an obstacle course!”
How CYD helped: “They helped me with my résumé and with the many forms I had to submit to apply to the army. They helped make everything look more professional.”
Dream: “I’m going to become a psych nurse. People in the army have been through real fighting and need someone to talk to. I would love to be that person.”
Fun fact: Amani will be sacrificing her signature red hair color for the army – but she plans to go back to it after her eight years of service.
