David Bolotsky
Founder & Chief Executive Officer, Uncommon Goods
David Bolotsky has served Comprehensive Youth Development for over 20 years as a volunteer, member of the founding Board of Directors, Board Chair, and now a member of the Board of Advisors. He connects to the students because of his personal heritage and work ethic. “My grandparents came to America to escape discrimination against Jews in Eastern Europe in the early 1900s. My grandfather started his own candy store, which he ran for over 40 years. I paid for college myself, working during the summers and borrowing money.” Dave was an integral part of shaping the organization into what it is today. “I was a volunteer tutor for a few years and was inspired by the mission. I had donated to the school when I was asked to be a founding board member of Manhattan Comprehensive Housing, the non-profit that CYD grew out of.”
David is the founder and CEO of Uncommon Goods, an online retailer of creative design. He was previously a Managing Director at Goldman Sachs, where he headed the U.S. Retail Research team.
