Can you spell as well as a 9th grader? Join us on Tuesday May 23rd to find out! CYD’s community – students, staff, teachers, and supporters – are gathering at the Bohemian National Hall for our highly anticipated 5th Annual Spelling Bee for Grownups. The night kicks off with student champion teams vying for first place. Then it’s the adult guests’ turn to test their own m-e-t-t-l-e and see if they can go home with a trophy! It’s fun, silly, and surprising and, most importantly, raises funds to support CYD’s students as they get ready for graduation and life beyond high school. “Goldman Sachs is proud to have been a lead sponsor from the beginning,” says Dean Backer, co-chair of the Development Committee. “It’s an invaluable way to bring in flexible funding to expand the myriad opportunities we offer NYC’s young people.”

To take the edge off the suspense – or perhaps ease the pain – there will be a mouthwatering buffet and the night’s signature cocktail, the bee-tini.
