Clara Brooks’ personal and professional life both connected her to Comprehensive Youth Development. “I was born in Brooklyn, raised in Queens and attended NYC public schools all the way through high school. I grew up in a typical NYC inner-city neighborhood where a lot of young people struggled to get through school. I know first-hand the struggles, distractions, and challenges many city students face trying to navigate the peaks and valleys of teenage life while also trying to ‘figure it all out’ – dreams, career, college, and more.”
Clara was introduced to Comprehensive Youth Development through a volunteer opportunity with BNY Mellon. “ I was impressed by the preventative approach for preparing students for college and careers, and I’m proud to be part of an organization whose history, mission and values align with my personal values and experiences.”
