The Robert and Marie Delaney Scholarship Fund

Bob Delaney was truly part of the DNA of Comprehensive Youth Development. He began volunteering with students at Manhattan Comprehensive Night & Day High School more than 25 years ago, and was one of the founders of the nonprofit that became CYD. He served on the Board of Directors and the Board of Advisors. Most importantly, he was a guiding light to students, staff, and board colleagues – an example of how to live a good life and make an indelible impact in the world.
The Robert and Marie Delaney Scholarship Fund was on Bob’s mind in the last months. In February 2021 he wrote:
“It is hard to believe that it has been 15 years since we founded the Robert and Marie Delaney Scholarship Fund. Marie and I thought we had come up with a good idea – to help promising young people for whom college was a financial struggle. We had no idea of the degree of enthusiasm this idea would generate, and the impact the Fund would come to have! Since its inception, thanks to more than 50 friends and CYD members, we have raised and distributed more than $150,000 to 31 deserving young men and women going on to SUNY and CUNY colleges.
I am proud to think that collectively we have contributed to the ongoing achievements of these students and to their families in years to come.”
