Robert V. Delaney †

Group Senior VP, Brooklyn Union Gas, Retired

Bob Delaney began his service to Comprehensive Youth Development upon his retirement twenty years ago. He connected with the students because of his own background. “I came from a blue-collar family.  I was the first person in my family to graduate from high school and the only one of my friends to go directly to college after high school.” He quickly became dedicated, volunteering 3-4 days per week as the college counselor at Manhattan Comprehensive. He then joined CDI’s Board of Directors and currently serves on the Board of Advisors. “Over the years I’ve been involved with many nonprofits. I’ve stayed with Comprehensive Youth Development because it is run with heart. Even better, it’s run efficiently with heart.”

Service to Comprehensive Youth Development is valued throughout Bob’s family. “Right now there are 3 generations of my family involved with Comprehensive Youth Development, and I think that’s unique. My daughter-in-law chairs the board, and my grandsons are active volunteers. I couldn’t be prouder.”
